Caterpillar Inc. is a Fortune 100 corporation that develops, engineers, manufactures, and sells machinery, engines, financial products, and insurance. The company is the world’s largest equipment manufacturer.
Caterpillar announced in 2016 that Tucson would be the new home to their new centralized hub for the Surface Mining & Technology Division. This included a new 150,000 square-foot building to house its 1,000 engineers, product development and support personnel relocated from around the world.
The opening of the new Caterpillar headquarters brings new opportunities to the city and has already proven a boost to the local economy, including the bustling Mercado Annex.
