SheTech Explorer Day one-day tech conference for high school girls. The event includes hands-on workshop sessions in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) alongside industry professionals from the community; an interactive tech zone (exhibit hall), and a small group activity for students to work together to propose tech-based solutions to a local challenge. Students get hands-on experience working with STEM professionals and learn about potential career pathways in STEM fields as they start to think about their future plans.
SheTech Explorer Day is a program of the Women Tech Council (WTC), with an Arizona event coordinated by the City of Tucson.
In 2022, we welcomed over 200 students from 19 schools to SheTech Arizona at the Tucson Convention Center! We had an exciting day full of STEM exploration alongside industry professionals from the University of Arizona, FreeFall Aerospace, Lasertel, Raytheon, Mister Carwash, the City of Tucson, AZ Cyber Initiatives, Pima Community College, Texas Instruments, Edmund Optics, and many more. Students participated in workshops about coding and hacking, environmental science, GIS, among many others from our dedicated workshop volunteers. Participants heard inspiring remarks from Tucson Mayor Regina Romero, Councilwoman Nikki Lee, and Pima Superintendent of Schools Dustin Williams before breaking out into their workshop sessions.
We couldn’t be happier about the enthusiasm shown by the students who participated in this year’s event. We can’t wait for 2023!
Thank you to our 2022 sponsors!
